Basic Info: How to play Dhalsim A yoga master whose long, stretchy limbs, irregular projectiles, and unpredictable sneak attacks can easily outwit those lacking in enlightenment. Keep opponents at bay with Dhalsim's ranged normal moves. If they try to jump in, intercept them with his wide array of anti-air options. You can also bring the fight to defensive opponents, using projectiles and unpredictable movement to create openings in your opponent's guard. Yoga Arch can be used as a simple spacing tool for limiting your opponent's positioning options. Special Move: Yoga Fire (QCF+P) Spit a ball of flame from your mouth. Useful in combos and for checking opponents from a distance. This yoga technique fires forth a flame that will keep grounded opponents at bay. Use it in conjunction with normal attacks to further disrupt your opponent's actions. Holding down the button will delay the fireball's execution, but cause it to hit additional times when it connects with the opponent. A detail well worth remembering. (Overdrive) The flame releases more quickly, and hits more times on contact. If your opponent is using projectiles of their own, this should prove a reasonable countermeasure. Special Move: Yoga Arch (QCF+K) Spit a curving ball of flame from your mouth. Useful for filling space above you that's usually difficult to cover. Yoga Arch fires a flame toward the heavens, forcing your opponent to consider their moves carefully. Use other moves to keep them grounded until the flame lands, or use it as cover while you make your approach. (Overdrive) This version hits more times, and causes the flame to bounce when it hits the ground. Your opponent will find it difficult to maneuver, bringing the pace of the round in your favor. Remember also that different button combinations can change the distance the flame travels. Special Move: Yoga Flame (HCB+P) Blow a large ball of flames from your mouth. Can be used both in combos and as a way to check your opponent while grounded. This move is best paired with normal attacks. Use light and medium attacks to lead into Yoga Flame and discourage opponents attempting an approach. The heavy version executes more slowly but hits three times, limiting your opponent and halting their Drive Impacts. (Overdrive) Opponents struck by the geyser of flame will be sent flying into the air. Once your opponent is airborne, you may strike them yet further. Make certain you take the opportunity to deliver a damaging combo. Special Move: Yoga Blast (HCB+K) Blow a large ball of flames diagonally upward. Can be used both as an early anti-air attack and in aerial combos. This is an anti-air technique for dealing with opponents who attempt to jump at you. You must predict the jump in advance, but connecting will allow you to make follow-up attacks, setting it apart from other anti-airs. (Overdrive) A large flame fired farther out, considerably enhancing the move's power as an anti-air. You will also find it easier to make follow-up attacks after the flame connects. Focus your spirit, and pay close heed to your opponent's jumps. Special Move: Yoga Comet (HCB+P during a jump) Blow a ball of flame from mid-air aimed toward the ground. Useful as a way to check opponents from the air. Fire a flame from the air to disrupt your opponent's actions. Blend in grounded attacks to ensure your opponent is never quite sure what your next move will be. (Overdrive) Hits additional times, and more importantly, after firing the flame, you are free to perform actions as you fall. To move freely in the air is the very essence of my yoga. Use this freedom to mislead opponents and go on the attack. Special Move: Yoga Float (D|DF+KK) Rise into the air and float for a moment. Jumping attacks and aerial special moves can be used while floating. Levitating moves can both hinder opponents and serve as an opening to your offense. As one example, try immediately levitating after a ground attack. You can also hold diagonally down and toward an opponent to levitate in their direction. Special Move: Aerial Yoga Float (D+KK during a jump) While airborne, transition into a float. Jumping attacks and aerial special moves can be used while floating. Levitating gives you a chance to observe the actions of your opponent, avoid their attacks entirely, or strike back with moves from the air. With the teachings of yoga to guide you, I am certain you will make good use of it. Special Move: Yoga Teleport (B|F+PPPorKKK) Used to instantaneously warp set distances. Its invincibility on startup can be used to evade attacks, and can also be used to set up an offense. Instantly teleport, putting distance between you and your opponent. If they attempt to approach, try teleporting backwards to get away from them. Which buttons you use determines the destination of your teleport. You may even teleport directly behind your foe for an added element of surprise. Special Move: Aerial Yoga Teleport (B|F+PPPorKKK during a jump) Used to instantaneously warp set distances while in the air. Jumping attacks and aerial special moves can be used after completing the teleport. This aerial teleport allows you to attack from the air once you reappear. After using Yoga Fire, you may immediately perform a midair teleport behind your opponent… And attack with an aerial move, flanking them from behind while the fireball approaches in front. This is but one example of the many ways you can deceive your adversaries with the power of yoga. Super Art: Yoga Inferno (QCFQCF+P) Blow flames in a variety of directions. Its quick execution makes it useful as a counterattack or as a way of converting normal attacks into combos. The direction of the flame will change depending on which button you input. The button you use changes the angle of the flames. The light version travels farthest, allowing you to connect it from a slight distance. Medium provides more powerful flames, and excellent combo potential. Heavy will guide the flames diagonally upwards for easy use as an anti-air or follow-up attack. Super Art: Yoga Sunburst (QCBQCB+K) Blow an enormous mass of flames into the air which then fall to the ground. Can be used as an anti-air attack or in combos after knocking an opponent into the air. One of my most powerful secret techniques, the Sunburst can blast opponents out of the air, or serve as an effective combo move against foes you've juggled. Hold the button down to spread the flames farther— and hotter—for added potency. Use it in conjunction with other moves to ensure your opponent cannot interfere, but remember that you can attack amidst the falling flames as well. It's particularly effective against opponents in Burnout. Super Art: Merciless Yoga (QCFQCF+K) A powerful move that unleashes a series of attacks followed by a devastating headbutt. Useful in combos, as an anti-air attack, or as a way to interrupt an opponent's pressure. Though lacking in range, this technique is impervious to your opponent's attacks and possesses staggering power. Use it, and you too will glimpse the essence of yoga. Connect into it from special moves for a devastating combination attack, or use it to penetrate an opponent's attack, delivering a merciless dose of enlightenment. Strategy: Fundamentals 1 I shall now teach you how to dismantle your foes with the power of yoga. First and foremost, you must master attacking from afar with your limbs. To start, focus on learning how to use standing medium and heavy attacks. Standing medium punch is fast, and will reach your opponent at the very start of a round. This versatile move will be the key to fighting from mid-range. Standing heavy punch is excellent for disrupting your opponent from long distances. Use its considerable reach to hit opponents just as they're about to take action. Master these two moves, and behold a glimpse of yoga's truth. Then, interweave Yoga Fire and Yoga Arch. Once your opponent's actions are limited, your other methods for disrupting their movement will be that much more effective. Strategy: Fundamentals 2 My yoga reveals its full potential when used from afar. For that reason, you must be able to contend with your opponents when they approach you, and remain ever vigilant against their jumps. There are several ways to deal with a jumping opponent. When somewhat far from your opponent, use Yoga Lance (B+HP). You'll need to respond quickly, but it is a powerful option that can lead into special moves. When closer, Yoga Uppercut (B+MP) is another effective choice. It comes out quickly, and can lead into special moves just as Yoga Lance can. Strategy: Advanced 1 When attacking with your limbs, always exercise caution. Your opponent can counter your strikes with a Drive Impact should you become too predictable. You can reduce this likelihood by occasionally using heavy Yoga Flame, or by responding with a Drive Impact of your own. Next, I shall Instruct you on how to defend yourself against opponents who manage to get within striking range. Standing lightiick and crouching medium punch are quite effective. Use them in conjunction with special moves to halt your opponent's approach. If they successfully reach you, you can either Yoga Teleport away from your opponent, or use quick light attacks or Divine Kick (B+MK) to stymie them up close. Always seek to push your opponent away before they push you into the corner. Strategy: Advanced 2 The ever-changing techniques of yoga can, of course, be applied to offense as well. Sometimes, against defensive opponents, we must go on the warpath instead. Yoga Fire and Yoga Arch are the shields which protect your approach. You may also Aerial Yoga Teleport to launch surprise attacks. Doing a Drill Kick (D+K during a jump) such that you connect with the edge of your opponent's feet is also effective. At close range, use strikes to press your offense, and throw your opponent to shatter their defenses. If they seem to be weathering the storm, calmly withdraw. There is great meaning in simply creating distance between you and your opponent.
